January 12: "FIRST DAYS OF CLASS & CLASS MANAGEMENT"
The teacher as manager within the classroom. Activities and techniques to use the first days of class.
January 26: "LESSON PLANNING"
Efficient lesson planning makes teaching much more effective and stimulating to both teacher and student.
February 2: "USING & PREPARING VISUALS"
What are they? How to find and/or make visuals and how to use them to teach creatively and effectively.
February 16: "CREATIVE GRAMMAR PRACTICE & DRILLING"
Demonstrations and workshops on ways of presenting new structures in class and a discussion of various drills.
February 23: "THE FOUR-STAGES WORKSHOP"
A step-by-step demonstration, lesson planning, evaluation and feedback workshop. (Active participation by all attending.)
March 9: "COURSEBOOK ADAPTATION"
Guidelines for evaluating textbooks and assessing students' needs, adapting textbook material and creating supplementary exercises.
March 23: "VOCABULARY BUILDING"
Creative activities on how to present new vocabulary items. Practical suggestions to get learners to use and to remember new lexis.
April 6: "READING AND OUR LEARNERS"
Techniques and activities to help learners read a passage with interest and to help improve comprehension.
May 11: "TEACHING WRITING"
Practical activities and suggestions to develop learners' writing skills from the sentence level to the paragraph.
May 25 : "DEVELOPING LISTENING SKILLS"
Practical tasks and exercises to ensure improvement of learners' listening skills.
